Amazon have started trialling Complementary Product Sets within A+ Content as a new module for brands to take advantage of. This new module will allow brands to showcase bundles and product sets that are frequently bought together.  

Where will the complementary products be placed? 

It will show underneath the title ‘shop the brand collection’ in the section of the product detail page where bundle type features are shown (e.g. frequently bought together), doesn’t have a fixed placement and will compete with other features to be shown to customers based on content relevance to the customer shopping mission. 

What will be best practice for brands to get the most out of using this new complementary products module? 

Best practice will be to select products that work together to enhance the performance of the featured product on a page and which products customers are likely to purchase together. You can see which products are most frequently purchased together in your brand catalogue by checking the market basket analysis report within brand analytics.  

There are 2 styles available which are Product Showcase Cards & Single Image with Text.  

Product Showcase Cards 

Product Showcase Cards display from 2 to 4 products you assign. You can choose a custom headline that will crown your product compilation, as well as sub headlines for each of the featured products. You can also set images to represent your products – those can either be standard product images or custom lifestyle photos. As for the ASINs, if the product you want featured is a part of the matrix, you can specify some backup ASINS in case the primary one becomes unavailable. It’s highly important to monitor the availability of the specified products – if fewer than 2 products become available, your recommendation module won’t display. 

Single Image with Text 

The single image with text simply displays one image with sub headlines. This specific module takes very little time to launch and is the simpler of the two.

Brands, if applicable, should take advantage of this trial period to test and gather data to see if this new module will work for them.
